left side is rear fog light, right side backup, just like a 2000 ish A6

Is the left one a rain light?

Light reflection?

rear fog light. My friend put LED tail lights on his 2010 jetta and only the right reverse light works because it thinks the left is for a fog light.

Only one of them is a reverse light.

It is probably a euro-spec car. The red light on the left is a fog light. The other side is the reverse light.

My hatred for dogs is well known. But...to this one I will only show indifference. No hate is the best I can muster.

As has been said, rear foglight. I keep forgetting that they sell the Jetta in Europe. I'm not completely sure I've ever actually seen one in person.

Eerily similar to my dog.

The reason is Euro. My mustang even has the same issue. (see below the bumper)

And above the bumper too, unless that's just an lit rear indicator

It's an indicator, the reversing lamps had to be retrofitted as turn signals Its not the most aesthetically pleasing solution but it works and its legal.
